LOCKPORT – The former assistant manager of the McDonald’s Restaurant in Wrights Corners, who failed to repay $17,820 he stole from the business, was sentenced Tuesday to a year in jail for violating probation by not repaying the money and not reporting to a probation officer.
Dustin J. Hall, 27, of Gasport, still will owe the money after his release, Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas ordered.
Hall had pleaded guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny for looting the fast-food spot’s till from August 2011 through January 2012. When he pleaded guilty in June 2012, Hall said he used the money to pay bills and buy gasoline and clothing.
Tuesday, Assistant Public Defender Michael E. Benedict said Hall couldn’t pay back the money because he hasn’t been able to hold a job, but Farkas noted that Hall also claimed he was too busy working to report to his probation officer.
