NIAGARA FALLS – About $27,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from a man in an armed robbery Sunday in Niagara Falls.
A 31-year-old man told police he was confronted about 5:45 a.m. in a parking lot in the 400 block of Third Street.
The victim said two men approached him as he went to his car, one man grabbing him and demanding his gold chain. The victim said he was forced at gunpoint to hand over an $8,500 necklace, a $14,000 bracelet and a $4,500 ring.
The robbery was one of two unrelated robberies reported Sunday to city police.
A 19-year-old woman told police that she was attacked from behind as she was walking at 3 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Main Street.
She said the assailant punched her in the back of the head and tried to take her headphones. She said she fought him off and one of the earpieces was broken in the process. The attacker grabbed her wallet, described as all white with the word SWAG on it. Inside the wallet was an advance credit card with $300 on it, a check addressed to her for $100, an insurance card and identification.
