A report of a kidnapping early Sunday led Ferry-Fillmore District police to arrest a man accused of assaulting and unlawfully imprisoning a woman in his vehicle, police reported Monday.
Officers charged Antwon Joyner, 32, of Landon Street, with first-degree assault, unlawful imprisonment, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest, according to police reports. The kidnapping call led police to stop his vehicle at about 4:10 a.m. Sunday, at Landon Street and Wohlers Avenue.
Police say the victim accused Joyner of forcing her into his car, repeatedly punching and kicking her and leaving her with a swollen left eye, other injuries and a ripped shirt. She was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.
The suspect also was accused of refusing to obey officers’ commands to keep his hands on their patrol car. After he tried to reach into his pockets, he was restrained and handcuffed, according to police reports.
