A Western New York law firm is warning the public about an e-mail scam involving alleged orders from the state Unified Court System to appear at court proceedings that include an attachment connected to the e-mail.
The Hogan Willag firm said the attachments, which a reader is supposed to open to learn of the time and location of the supposed court appearance, really just contain a computer virus. The state court system does not send out such e-mail notices of court appearances and the e-mail should be deleted without opening the attachment, the firm said.
