A Ferry-Fillmore District police officer was bitten in the groin by a pit bull Monday night as he attempted to apprehend a criminal-mischief suspect in the Fillmore-Best area, police said.
Authorities said the pit bull escaped from a home on Sweeney Street, just south of Martin Luther King Park, at about 8 p.m. The officer was treated in Erie County Medical Center.
At the timne, police were investigating an incident on Timon Street, about seven blocks west of Sweeney, where someone used a brick to damage several windows on a Jeep and the front window of a house.
