Police across the area charged motorists in West Seneca, Ripley and Clarence overnight for driving while intoxicated, including one who was charged with a violation of Leandra’s Law for having a minor in the vehicle.
A 21-year-old Hamburg man lost control of his vehicle at 4 a.m. today and struck a parked car on Warren Avenue near Center Road in West Seneca, town police reported. Jonathan Toledo was charged under Leandra’s Law for endangering three 15-year-olds also in the vehicle, according to police. Two of the minors were taken to Mercy Hospital with minor injuries while Toledo was released on an appearance ticket and is due in court later this week, police reported.
Meanwhile, Erie County sheriff’s deputies made a DWI arrest in the Town of Clarence. Joseph Lysen, 21, of Clarence was found to have a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit around 1 a.m. today after his vehicle left Goodrich Road and struck a generator at the Town of Clarence Highway Department, deputies reported. Lysen registered a BAC of 0.18 when tested and was charged with aggravated DWI.
An Erie, Pa., man was arrested in the Town of Ripley on DWI charges by Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies after they said he was observed sitting unconscious at the wheel of his vehicle in a driveway around 9:15 p.m. Saturday. Bryan M. Gregory, 33, was found a short time later and arrested on charges of aggravated DWI for a BAC over 0.18 and refusing a breath test, deputies reported.
