NEWFANE – A thief was kind enough to return an Elmwood Lane man’s vehicle after apparently stealing it overnight, Niagara County sheriff’s deputies said, but wasn’t as thoughtful with the victim’s property.
The victim told deputies that he parked his sport utility vehicle in his driveway abpout 11 p.m. Friday, leaving it unlocked with the keys in the ignition. When he returned to the vehicle about noon Saturday, he found it reparked in the opposite direction that he had left it. More than $500 in items were missin, he said, including 12 packs of cigarettes, a global positioning system and an amplifier.
The dashboard had also been damaged in an unsuccessful attempt to steal the stero system, deputies said.
