WHEATFIELD – Niagara County sheriff’s deputies said several recent car break-ins – ncluding two in the Town of Wheatfield – had one element in common: unlocked vehicles parked in driveways.
A Slusaric Road man told deputies that someone stole about $600 worth of belongings from his car between 2:30 and 6 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle’s dashboard was damaged during the theft of a Pioneer touch-screen head unit, and a backpack containing two shirts also was taken.
On Friday afternoon, a Lockport Road resident told authorities that two unlocked vehicles were entered while parked in his driveway, with about $70 in cash stolen. Also reporting a similar theft was resident of Creekbend Drive in Pendleton who said that she left her purse in her unlocked car Friday morning, and discovered someone made off with $360 in cash.
Several vehicles were entered at a residence on Escarpment Drive in Cambria, with a stereo unit stolen from one, deputies said.
