Two electronic cigarette shops have reported recent break-ins, one of them for the third time recently.
The owner of NY Vapor in Niagara Falls told police that someone forced their way into his building in the 1600 block of Pine Avenue overnight Wednesday and took approximately $8,000 worth of electronic cigarettes, as well as cash, electronics and equipment. Total loss and damages were listed at $14,800.
The owner said sometime between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday someone damaged two iron doors located in a north-facing alley to gain entry.
The e-cigarettes and various equipment, valued at $4,000 were taken from a display case. Also missing were an iPad, a computer, a 42-inch television set, cash drawers with an unknown amount of money and a fire safe containing $2,500, police said.
The owner said his cable lines were cut.
Another break-in was reported at 2:50 a.m. Thursday at Exotic Vapors at 2314 Niagara Falls Blvd., Wheatfield. Unlike the first theft, alarms brought law enforcement to the scene to investigate.
The owner told Niagara County sheriff’s deputies that someone ripped off a piece of plywood to gain entry to a bathroom window and, once inside, went though two display cases and took a total of $559 in merchandise. She told deputies that she would take further inventory and had a closed circuit security system.
The site in Wheatfield was burglarized previously a week and a half ago and in also in late June. Both times cash and inventory were stolen.
