NIAGARA FALLS – Representatives of the Cayuga Youth Athletic League are wondering how someone stole a fiberglass portable pitcher’s mound – weighing “several hundred pounds” – from a baseball diamond at 93rd Street Park over the weekend.
The portable mound was installed by grounds crews Friday, according to reports, and was discovered missing Saturday afternoon.
A league vice president told police that it would have required “several persons” to move the item, and police could find no evidence of any vehicle’s having been driven up to the area. The portable mound was valued at $1,200.
