A man accused of brandishing a handgun during a pick-up basketball game at the University at Buffalo South Campus has been arrested, the university said Thursday.
Damon Erving, 23, of 72 Windwood Ave., Cheektowaga, has been charged with second-degree menacing, a class A misdemeanor, for displaying what police now believe was a BB gun.
The incident happened at about 3 p.m. Monday following a dispute during a pick-up game in Clark Hall gym. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
Erving, who is cooperating with police, is not a student at UB or affiliated with the university.
He also was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds, which is a violation, and has been banned from the UB campuses.
He was arrested by Investigator Wayne Colton.
