MINA – A 1-year-old boy died Saturday of injuries from a crash in Chautauqua County last week.
Achilles McBride of Westfield was a passenger in a pickup driven by Matthew McBride, 39, which crashed Wednesday into the rear of a tractor-trailer that had pulled off I-86 and onto the shoulderin the Town of Mina, because of poor visibility.
The infant was initially taken to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa., then transferred to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he died.
Chautauqua County Sheriff’s investigators said the crash occured about 12:47 a.m. in the eastbound lane of the interstate. McBride, they said, did not see the tractor-trailer, which was driven by Dale Legg, who was uninjured.
Another passenger in the pickup, Esmeraldo McBride, 28, was taken to Hamot, then transferred to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, and listed in critical condition.
No charges have been filed.
