LOCKPORT – The Dunkirk man who fled his sex-abuse trial last month will be brought back from Arizona to face punishment, but now his wife is in trouble with the law, too.
The U.S. Marshals Service found Paul S. Turley and his wife, Diane, staying with acquaintances at a mobile home in Tucson, Ariz. on Friday, after tracking the couple across several states over the past month, officials said a news conference on Saturday.
Turley was arraigned Friday in Arizona on charges of absconding, while his wife is accused of helping him runaway and is charged with hindering prosecution, a felony, according to WIVB-TV. Both will be brought back to Niagara County.
Turley, 47, of Lincoln Avenue, Dunkirk, disappeared Jan. 23 while on trial in Lockport on charges of molesting two girls in North Tonawanda between August 1996 and June 1998.
Turley faces a prison term of up to 39 years at his scheduled sentencing on April 19.
