NIAGARA FALLS – A 46-year-old man told police on Monday that more than $8,000 worth of tools and equipment that he had been storing in a pickup were stolen sometime over the weekend in the 400 block of 71st Street.
The victim said the truck is inoperable, but he had been using it for storage. He said it was locked while he was away over the weekend and when he returned Monday morning, he found it unlocked and his property was gone.
Stolen were drill sets, a sawzall, two tool bags, $4,000 worth of brass fittings, $4,000 worth of other miscellaneous tools, as well as two prescription medications, one a narcotic for pain and another for blood pressure, that he had left inside one of the tool bags.
A person interviewed by police said there had been multiple reports of thefts from work trucks on their street but it is not known whether all of them were reported to police, according to the police report.
