A former husband and wife were sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to a year in prison for their role in a counterfeit sneaker ring.
Huang Yue Feng and Wang He Bin, now divorced, had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to traffic in counterfeit goods as a result of their participation in the sale of more than 500,000 fake Nike sneakers from China.
Assistant U.S. Attorney John E. Rogowski urged the judge to sentence them to prison in order to send a message about the seriousness of counterfeit crimes.
Defense lawyers for both defendants cited their early and frequent cooperation in the government’s prosecution of this case and others across the country.
