NIAGARA FALLS – A Lockport man ended up putting himself on the wrong side of the law when he gave police a false identity and used the name of a man who was wanted on a domestic violence warrant.

Deputies patrolling Old Falls Street on Monday afternoon said they stopped a vehicle and questioned a passenger who was observed smoking a marijuana cigar. They charged Anthony J. Printup, 24, of Packard Court with criminal possession of marijuana.

The driver, who was later identified as Steven J. Zimmerman, 23, of East High Street, Lockport, originally gave police the name of a man who was wanted on a warrant Zimmerman was then taken into custody.

Zimmerman told police he gave them a false name because he was on parole and did not want to get in trouble. He was found to be driving with a revoked license, and was charged with criminal impersonation and aggravated unlicensed operation.
