Hamburg village police early Monday morning apprehended a robbery suspect accused of wielding a knife and stealing all the money in the cash register at a NOCO Express Mart in the village.
Police say the robber entered the store on Lake Street at about 1 a.m. Monday, armed with a knife and wearing a ski mask. He forced the clerk to give him all the money in the cash register, before he fled from the store, police reported.
Officers responded quickly to the call and caught the suspect a short distance from the scene of the robbery.
Lt. Kevin Haberman and Officer Eric Krycia charged Derek Bonafede, 22, of Hamburg with robbery, grand larceny, menacing and weapon possession, according to police reports.
