One Buffalo teenager was sentenced Tuesday to a year in jail, and another was given two years in state prison for robbing a man at gunpoint last fall in Black Rock.

Erie County Judge Kenneth F. Case imposed the jail term on Christian Gault, 17, of Niagara Street, in the Oct. 16 gunpoint holdup on Hertel Avenue. The judge denied his request for youthful offender status, noting that Gault had received a break about a year ago when he was adjudicated a juvenile delinquent in another case. Youthful offender status seals a defendant’s criminal record.

The judge gave the state prison term to Marquise White, 18, of Center Lane, noting that he had been granted youthful offender status in a previous case.

A co-defendant, Wayne Robbins, 17, of Debra Lane, will be sentenced by Case Feb. 14.

The three defendants pleaded guilty in December to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree robbery. They faced up to seven years in prison.

A juvenile who was charged in the case was sent to Family Court.
