CAMBRIA – Niagara County sheriff’s deputies said that a man who first called to report the death of a 79-year-old man inside a home on Faircourt West at 1:46 p.m. Saturday collapsed shortly before they arrived and then he also died.
Neither death is believed to be suspicious, said Niagara County Sheriff Capt. Kristen M. Neubauer, chief of detectives, on Monday.
The man found deceased inside 3919 Faircourt West was identified Monday as Franklin Dold, 79, of Sanborn.
Deputies said they found a second man, later identified as Stephen R. Bannach, 54, of Ridge Road, Lockport, in distress on the ground outside near the Cambria address. Bannach was unresponsive and later was pronounced dead at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston.
Neubauer said Bannach had located Dold and called in 911 for a medical emergency.
Neubauer said of Bannach, “In the process of him leaving actually he had a medical emergency as well and he was later deceased as well. It’s an odd coincidence, but there’s absolutely nothing criminal.”
Neubauer said the she was unaware of the relationship between the two men.
