WHEATFIELD – A 39-year-old Lockport man told Niagara County sheriff’s deputies Sunday that someone forced their way into his vehicle, damaging the door handle and lock, sometime between 2 and 5:49 a.m. while he was parked in the 3800 block of Mapleton Road.
The victim told deputies that someone had punched their way through the door handle lock of the vehicle, leaving a flat head screwdriver behind, and took a Spyder jacket, gloves, three USB thumb drives, a Seneca Niagara gaming license, and two 10-inch sub woofer speakers in a speaker box. The total loss was $1,581.
Deputies found footprints that went over a fence and into a cemetery, across the road and into the St. Paul’s Church parking lot. Deputies checked the church and found it secure, then spoke to a church snowplow driver who identified a suspect’s green minivan that had been parked in the church parking lot at 5:45 a.m.
