A 24-year-old West Seneca man was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center after his arrest Thursday night at the Planet Fitness club in the Seneca-Ridge Plaza where police subdued him as he allegedly threatened people with a knife and screamed about his mental state.
West Seneca Police Officer Jesse Reed subdued Louis F. Doll of 3610 Seneca Street about 9:30 p.m. with a stun gun after Doll assumed a fighting stance with a knife in his hand in the back of the fitness center, according to a police report.
Doll, who allegedly became distraught and was waiving a knife on his own front lawn about 9:15 p.m, was ordered by West Seneca Town Justice Jeffrey Harrington to undergo a forensic examination after his arrest.
Doll was jailed at the downtown Buffalo lockup after being arrested on a felony charge of menacing a police officer and a misdemeanor weapons possession charge.
No one was hurt in the fitness center.
Police officials credited Reed’s successful use of the stun gun to subdue Doll and prevent a potentially deadly situation from developing in the fitness center which is just down the street from the suspect’s home.
