A 19-year-old Cornwall Avenue man and a male juvenile were arrested in the 1900 block of Genesee Street shortly after a woman told police they robbed her of her purse after threatening her and claiming they had a gun.
The woman said she was accosted by Julius Cathcart and a male juvenile at East Delavan Avenue and Freund Street about 7:15 p.m. She told officers that after she resisted the juvenile suspect’s efforts to pull her purse from her hand Cathcart acted as if he had a firearm and said “let go of the purse.”
She said the two suspects ran east on Freund. Then when the two suspects were arrested a short time later in front of 1919 Genesee, the victim’s purse was recovered and both suspects were charged with first and second-degree robbery.
