ALBION – A 25-year-old Waterport man was tracked down by Orleans County sheriff’s deputies and state troopers when he fled after crashing his pickup truck and severely damaging two businesses at Main Street and Maple Road in downtown Lyndonville about 9:45 p.m. Monday.

Blake Strickland was arrested in a house on Oak Orchard River Road shortly after he allegedly crashed his truck into a building housing a liquor store and hair salon. Officials said he was apparently driving north on Main Street when he failed to negotiate a right turn onto Maple and crashed into the building and fled.

The building suffered significant structural damage. Strickland is charged with leaving the scene of an incident, unsafe speed, failure to keep right, unsafe lane change and failure to notify the state Department of Motor Vehicles of an address change. He faces proceedings in Yates Town Court in several weeks.
