The father of a teenaged hockey player was arrested Saturday night after police said he attacked the coach for pulling his son from the game.
Officers from the Orchard Park and West Seneca police departments responded to 911 calls and encountered a large crowd when they arrived at Leisure Rinks on Weiss Street in West Seneca about 9:50 p.m., Orchard Park police reported.
Officers determined that Michael Schaefer of Buffalo assaulted the coach, who reportedly suffered a should injury and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Schaefer was charged with third-degree assault, police said.
