LOCKPORT – Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas had some advice Friday for a man who pleaded guilty to violating an order of protection.

Prominent Niagara Falls defense attorney James J. Faso Jr. said an Oct. 13 altercation between Mark W. Reynolds and a woman who obtained the restraining order five months earlier started after the woman visited Reynolds’ house and both drank heavily while doing yard work.

“It doesn’t matter who initiates the contact. You see who gets in trouble,” Farkas told Reynolds, 43, of 102nd Street, Niagara Falls, who pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal contempt.

Faso, who talked the prosecution down from a felony to a misdemeanor plea offer, also persuaded Farkas to reduce Reynolds’ bail from $15,000 to $2,000, pending sentencing Feb. 28.
