NEWFANE – A drunken-driving suspect tried to hide behind a parked car in a Ketchum Avenue driveway before being arrested early Saturday, authorities said.
When Niagaera County sheriff’s deputies tried to pull over a car driven by Joseph R. Kress, 28, shortly after it left Meadowbrooke Apartments on Meadowbrook Lane just before 1 a.m., he sped off and into the nearby driveway, deputies said. Kress, who left the car and crouched behind another ar, told deputies had not been driving, according to the report.
Kress, of Meadowbrook Lane, was convicted of DWI twice before, deputies said.
As a result, he was charged with felony driving while intoxicated and aggravated DWI. He also was charged with not wearing a seat belt, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway and failure to report a change of home address.
