CHERRY CREEK – A Perrysburg man accused of leading a state trooper on a nine-mile chase in February failed to appear in court to answer a charge of felony driving while ability impaired by drugs and was arrested late Friday on a warrant.

Cattaraugus County sheriff’s deputies said they arrested Donald J. Pfaffenbach, 32, of County Line Road, on a warrant issued by Cherry Creek Town Court. The warrant was linked to the chase on Feb. 16, when a trooper tried to pull over Pfaffenbach, who was parked in a Chevrolet Blazer on County Road 68 before leading the trooper on a 12-minute chase at speeds as high as 90 mph. Pfaffenbach eventually stopped the SUV and ran into some brush before he was arrested, authorities said.

Pfaffenbach told troopers he had injected himself with heroin while his SUV was parked and sped away because he needed medical attention.

The arrest warrant included several other charges, including fleeing a police officer and resisting arrest. Pfaffenbach was arraigned in Cherry Creek Town Court and taken to Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
