A West Avenue woman and her son were arrested on assault and other charges when the woman allegedly began fighting with officers who were taking her son into custody for allegedly punching a woman during a street incident about 8:54 p.m. Wednesday.
Nilda Gutierrez, 49, and her son, Alex Labory, 25, were arrested at their home when police tracked the man there after a woman complained about him striking her during an argument at Niagara and Carolina streets minutes earlier. Gutierrez reportedly began fighting with officers and interfering in the arrest of her son. Both were charged with third-degree assault, resisting arrest, harassment and obstructing governmental administration.
