A 24-year-old Buffalo man, who was arrested on drug and marijuana charges when a state trooper stopped his car, claimed the drugs belonged to his father, who died in 2011.
Stanley J. Kubiak of Lakewood Avenue, who was stopped because of a taillight problem at about 8:20 p.m. Thursday at the entrance to Route 219 at Armour Duells Road in Orchard Park, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh-degree, possession of a controlled substance not in its original container and unlawful possession of marijuana.
The trooper noticed a strong marijuana odor in the car and found a clear plastic bag containing marijuana and a large plastic shopping bag loaded with prescription bottles and various pills.
Kubiak was issued an appearance ticket for an Orchard Park Town Court session in two weeks.
