GOWANDA – A 48-year-old Lawtons woman remains in custody at the Cattaraugus County jail on attempted murder and other charges for allegedly attacking and seriously injuring a former Gowanda boyfriend and stabbing a woman visiting the man’s Chestnut Street home early Friday.
Carol R. Silverheels, also known as Carol Fisher, was arrested by Gowanda police officers at about 5:20 a.m., about two blocks from the site of the butcher knife incident. She is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail on attempted murder in the second-degree, first-degree assault, menacing and weapons possession charges.
Gowanda police said Silverheels initially punched the 46-year-old man and the 47-year-old woman who was visiting him. Police would not release the names of the two victims.
Police said Silverheels had a 13-inch butcher knife, which she used to stab the female victim in the back and hand and then stab the man in the chest before running from the home. She was quickly arrested.
The man was treated at his home by Gowanda Ambulance Service personnel and then taken by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center where he was in serious but stable condition Friday night.
The female victim was treated at Lakeshore Hospital and released.
Silverheels faces proceedings in Persia Town Court.
