State police identified today the man killed Thursday afternoon on the Thruway near the William Street exit in Cheektowaga as Brenden C. Ballacchino, 26, of Orchard Park.
Ballacchino man was killed at about 4 p.m. Thursday when he was struck by a tractor trailer in an eastbound lane of the Thruway near the William Street exit in Cheektowaga.
State police detoured eastbound traffic around the accident scene during the afternoon rush hour.
It was uncertain whether the victim was walking along the Thruway or perhaps had stepped outside a disabled vehicle when he was struck.
Anyone with information about the incident or may have witnessed the accident is asked to call State Police in Buffalo at 935-6570.
