ORANGEVILLE – The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office is seeking public assistance in its continuing investigation of the theft of nearly 4,000 pounds of large-diameter insulated and bare copper from the Wind Farm Power Station under construction on Centerline Road in Orangeville.

Three times since the end of June thieves have cut copper lines at the power station. The last thefts were over the weekend of Aug. 21-22. Spokesmen said many of those lines are energized and could cause death to handlers.

Area scrap yards have been asked to report anyone trying to sell large amounts of copper. A $1,000 reward has been posted for the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (585) 786-8989.
