MACHIAS – An Elma man was charged with felony driving while intoxicated Sunday after state police responded to reports of hazardous driving.
Charles W. Olday Jr., 54, of Elma, was stopped about 5:25 p.m. by Trooper John Dyche on Maple Avenue in the Town of Machias, Cattaraugus County. Police said Olday’s vehicle had almost hit two other cars.
Police said Olday’s s blood-alcohol level was 0.17 percent. His charge was upgraded to a felony because he had a been convicted of DWI within the last 10 years.He was arraigned in Machias Town Court and remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of bail.
