A Montana Street man faces seven years to life in prison when sentenced Sept. 23 as a persistent felony offender on his guilty plea to a felony gun charge.

Terrell Hale, 32, pleaded guilty, as charged, before Erie County Judge Michael L. D’Amico to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon for having a loaded pistol under the driver’s seat when pulled over by police Jan. 27, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III, in a release today, said police also found 254 plastic bags of cocaine, three cell phones and $3,118 in cash.

Hale’s DNA was found on the gun, Sedita said.

Hale previously served two prison sentences totaling seven years for illegal weapon possession.

Sedita said Hale’s latest conviction was the most punitive for which the defendant could have been convicted had he gone to trial.
