FARMERSVILLE – A 70-year-old Delevan woman died of injuries sustained Sunday when she was ejected from a motorcycle that failed to negotiate a curve in the Town of Farmersville, state police in Machias reported.
Janet Lexer was a passenger on a motorcycle operated by Richard Kruse, 73, also of Delevan. Both were airlifted to Erie County Medical Center, where Lexer died of head injuries sustained in the 4 p.m. accident.
Initial investigation revealed that the motorcycle had been heading northbound on Route 16 when it left the roadway on a curve and struck an earth embankment, ejecting both the operator and passenger.
Kruse was listed in stable condition with neck injuries.
Franklinville police and ambulance crews assisted at the scene.
The state police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the cause of the accident.
