CAMBRIA – A 33-year-old Lockport man who was injured in a one-car crash was charged with felony drunk driving under Leandra’s Law Friday for having three children in his vehicle, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Eric V. Heiman was arrested after he was taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport for treatment after the 11:45 a.m. crash on Saunders Settlement Road. He also was charged with driving while impaired by drugs, speeding and child endangerment.
The children in the vehicle were ages 7, 5 and 1. None of them was seriously injured, according to the sheriff’s office.
Heiman drifted off the westbound lane and crashed into an earth embankment. He is due in Cambria Town Court on Sept. 4.
