LOCKPORT – Ronald A. Bugyi Jr., 40, of New Road, Ransomville, pleased and surprised Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas by his success on six months of interim probation for felony driving while intoxicated, so the judge spared him a prison sentence and expanded his probation term to a full five years Friday.
Bugyi had pleaded guilty in the wake of a May 11, 2012, arrest in Wilson. He will have to pay a fine and a surcharge totaling $1,520.
In another case Friday, Eric K. Koch, 48, of Ridge Road, Hartland, pleaded not guilty to felony DWI and speeding. Deputy District Attorney Theodore A. Brenner said Koch’s blood alcohol content was measured at 0.27 percent in a blood test after his April 4 arrest in the Town of Lockport.
