WARSAW – An adult pig and eight piglets died in a barn fire Monday night in the Wyoming County Town of Perry, according to the county’s Office of Emergency Services.
A passer-by spotted the fire at 7206 LaGrange Road shortly before 9 p.m. and stopped at the home of owner Ken Campbell to report it, authorities said.
The fire destroyed the 40-foot by 40-foot barn, 250 bales of hay and miscellaneous tools. Perry Center Fire Chief Mike Cook led the firefighting effort, which involved several companies that were on scene for three hours.
Authorities said the cause was accidental – a heat lamp being used in the barn. The losses were estimated at $15,000.
