Five Buffalo firefighters suffered injuries while battling three house fires early Saturday – one a three-alarm fire in the city’s Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood, followed by a blaze on the city’s West Side an hour later.

Firefighters were first called at 1:54 a.m. to extinguish fires at two vacant homes at 73 and 95 Milburn St., fire officials said Saturday. Both structures were fully involved by the time firefighters arrived at the scene.

Damage to the two homes was estimated at $50,000 each and both were demolished. One firefighter suffered an injury battling the blaze, an official said. The cause is under investigation.

Firefighters were called at 3:09 a.m. to extinguish a blaze that engulfed a 2½-story house at 390 Jersey St., near 14th Street. The fire caused $100,000 damage to the structure and $40,000 to contents, officials said. The cause of that fire is still under investigation. Four firefighters suffered injuries in this battle.
