A Pembroke teen was rushed to Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight after the all-terrain vehicle he was driving struck a bush and overturned Saturday night, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Benjamin L. Falker, 16, was heading west on West Main Street in the Village of Corfu around 11 p.m. when he attempted to enter the sidewalk off the road’s south shoulder at the intersection of Main and Prospect Street. Falker lost control of his 2012 Polaris Sportsman 500, causing the vehicle to hit a row of bushes and eject Falker before striking a utility pole and coming to rest upright. Benjamin was the vehicle’s sole occupant.
He suffered a head injury and was listed in critical condition, the sheriff’s office said.
Officers from the sheriff’s Crash Management Team and the Corfu Police Department are investigating the cause of the crash. Charges may be pending.
