An Erie County Sheriff’s deputy who sprayed a handcuffed inmate in the face with pepper spray at the Erie County Correctional Facility was sentenced to one year of probation, including six months’ house arrest, U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. reported Friday.
Josephine Cutolo, 54, of Buffalo, was convicted of deprivation of rights under color of law for spraying the inmate, who was subdued after being involved in an altercation with another inmate, officials said.
After she sprayed the inmate, Cutolo asked the inmate how he liked the spray, authorities said.
