Erie County Medical Center was in a lockdown this morning after receiving a call of a man with a gun in one of the facility’s buildings, according to Buffalo police.
Buffalo police conducted a search of the recently opened nursing home portion of the campus and no gunman was found.
“We received a call from someone who knew of somebody who was seen with a gun,” said Thomas Quartroche, senior vice president of ECMC. “As a precaution, we placed ECMC in lockdown."
By 7:50 a.m., the lockdown had been lifted.
“We received the call shortly after 6 a.m., and there was a significant police response. The police checked and nothing has been found," said Michael J. DeGeorge, spokesman for the police department.
