LOCKPORT – A man who was caught in an apparent copper caper March 1 at an apartment house on Whitney Avenue in Niagara Falls pleaded guilty in Niagara County Court Friday.
Dominique D. Harrell, 20, of Willow Avenue in the Falls, admitted to attempted third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief. He faces up to four years in prison when he is sentenced Oct. 11 by County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas. The sentence will include restitution of $1,070.
A neighbor reportedly saw a man enter the apartment building and called police, who surrounded the building. Harrell was tackled by an officer in the back alley after leaving the building, and damage was found to a door, a window and some copper pipes in the basement.
