Police tracked footprints in the snow to solve a Christmas Eve burglary in the city’s Schiller Park neighborhood.
The thieves kicked in a rear door of a house on Rogers Avenue late Monday and stole a 55-inch Sanyo television and numerous wrapped Christmas gifts under a tree, police said Tuesday.
Thanks to the help of neighbors, police officers were able to track footprints in the snow to a nearby residence on Rogers, where they located the stolen items, according to police reports. Officer Deana Fera also found a loaded handgun in a dresser drawer of the residence.
Charged with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree criminal mischief were: Keivon Williams, 17, of Herman Street; Jamil Young, 19, of Rogers Avenue; and a 14-year-old whose name was not released because he’s a juvenile.
