A teenager was fatally shot Saturday afternoon in the city’s Hamlin Park neighborhood.
Police released few details Saturday, but said one male – believed to be 16 – was shot just before 4 p.m. in the 200 block of Northland Avenue, between Lonsdale Road and Hager Street.
Homicide investigators were called to the scene. Police initially said the victim was seriously wounded, but later reported that the male died from his injuries.
Northland was cordoned off with crime tape at Longsdale Road, where neighbors spilled out onto the street and nearby porches.
Some were visibly upset, while others were still trying to learn details of what happened two hours after the shooting.
“I heard it, but I thought it was fireworks,” said one woman on Northland.
