Among the DWI arrests made by Erie County sheriff’s deputies Saturday night and early today, one involved a 0.25 percent blood-alcohol level and another involved the striking of a fire hydrant.
In the first incident, shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday, Deputies Simon Biegasiewicz and Michael Okal were on a detail in Buffalo when they stopped a vehicle that had failed to remain in its lane. The driver, Gregory Young, 51, of Buffalo, was found to be intoxicated and in possession of narcotics, sheriff’s officials said.
Deputies later determined that Young’s blood-alcohol level was 0.25, more than three times the legal limit, according to the police report. He was charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated, due to a prior conviction, and criminal possession of a controlled substance, authorities said.
At about 2:45 a.m. today, Deputy Timothy Cannan responded to a property-damage accident on Main Street in Clarence, where he found that a vehicle had struck a fire hydrant and some business signs. The deputy charged Jennifer Murphy, 32, of Lancaster, with DWI. A chemical test revealed a blood-alcohol level of 0.12 percent, the police report stated.
