Motorcyclist Rafael Maldonado Jr., 43, died today at Erie County Medical Center of the several injuries he suffered in a crash with a minivan in the 300 block of Grider Street last week, Buffalo police said.
Maldonado’s helmet was reportedly knocked off when he crashed at about 2 p.m. Wednesday. He apparently underwent an emergency tracheotomy at the scene of the accident. He had been in critical condition at the hospital.
Ronald James Smith, 63, the minivan driver remained in improved serious condition at ECMC.
The Buffalo Police accident investigation unit is probing the crash.
