LOCKPORT – A man who allegedly was part of a Niagara Falls police car chase on New Year’s Day was arraigned Thursday in State Supreme Court on a charge of having a sawed-off shotgun.
Jheryl B. Carter, 24, of 12th Street in the Falls, pleaded not guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Police said they followed a car for several blocks after receiving a report of a man with a gun in the 1800 block of Michigan Avenue about 3 p.m. Carter, a passenger, got out when the car stopped. The other occupants fled on foot and got away. The shotgun was found in the auto.
