LOCKPORT – Lockport police were joined by Niagara County sheriff’s deputies, New York State Police troopers, K-9 units and a U.S. Border Patrol helicopter in a search for a man who reportedly stole a kiss Thursday morning.
A 36-year-old woman told Lockport police that she was taking out the garbage at her home in the 600 block of Walnut Street shortly after 10 a.m. when an unknown man came up from behind in her fenced-in backyard and kissed her. The man then fled south on foot into a wooded area between Walnut Street and Tudor Lane.
The woman said she was uninjured but frightened by the man’s bizarre behavior. Nothing appeared to be stolen from the property.
A perimeter was set up near the house, and a wooded area near her home was searched by police agencies, including the Border Patrol, which already had a helicopter in the area.
The suspect was described as white, in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5-foot-8 with a thin build, a stubble mustache, scruffy appearance and wearing dirty, ragged blue jeans and a black hoodie with red writing or an insignia on the back.
The search was called off just after 12:30 p.m. when no one matching the description was found. Anyone with information can contact the Lockport Police Department at 433-7700 or the confidential tip line at 439-6707.
