An alleged drug trafficker who was on Cattaraugus County’s list of “ten most wanted criminals” pleaded not guilty Tuesday in County Court to two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and two counts of third-degree criminal possession.
Judge Ronald D. Ploetz sent Thomas D. Doner of Salamanca to jail to await further court action in 45 days.
Doner, no age available, was arrested Friday by Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force agents, Cattaraugus County sheriff’s deputies and Salamanca police in what began as a routine traffic stop. A check of outstanding indictments led to his arrest on the drug charges.
County District Attorney Lori Pettit Rieman told The Buffalo News the month-old indictment was linked to Doner’s alleged trafficking in morphine in Salamanca late last May. She said he faces a possible term of 25 years in prison if convicted.
In other court action Tuesday before Ploetz:
• Matthew W. Kirkwood, 37, of Salamanca was ordered to serve a combined one-year term in the Cattaraugus County Jail on his Dec. 11 guilty plea to a felony charge of menacing a police officer in the Town of Great Valley last May 16 and violating an order of protection last Oct. 20 that a female friend had obtained against him in Salamanca.
• Lawrence W. Mohr, 25, of Cattaraugus, was sentenced to 10 years of probation on his Dec. 11 guilty plea to a third-degree rape charge to satisfy a grand jury indictment linked to alleged sex with a 16-year-old girl in Salamanca on Jan. 6 and Jan. 8.
• Rachel N. Adams, 32, of Allegany, and David J. Fie, 49, of Olean, both face sentencing May 20 on their separate pre-indictment guilty pleas to welfare fraud. Pettit Rieman said Adams admitted illegally obtaining public assistance in Olean from April 2011 through last May. Fie admitted illegally obtaining public assistance in Olean between September 2011 and November 2011. Both will be ordered to make court-determined restitution.
• Kwane J. Weakfall, 22, of Olean, pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary for an incident in Olean last Oct. 2. He admitted entering a business illegally with intent to burglarize it.
• George M. Englehardt, 26, of Machias, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property on his arrest for driving a stolen car in the Town of Machias last March 4. The district attorney said that at that time, Englehardt’s driving privileges had been revoked because of an earlier alcohol-related conviction.
• Franklin W. Hoff, 35, and Sean M. Galmer, 23, both of Olean, pleaded not guilty to separate grand jury drug-trafficking indictments. Hoff was charged with trafficking in the narcotic preparation Dihydrocodeinone with acetaminophen last May and June in Olean. Galmer was charged with trafficking in heroin in Olean last April and again on Jan. 16.
